How to make a presentation with Claude (and share it)

Claude is very good at the hard part of a presentation: working out what to say, in what order, for which audience. What a chat can't give you is the rest: a designed deck you can edit, present from a link, hand to a colleague or open in PowerPoint. This guide shows two ways to get from a Claude conversation to a finished, shareable deck in InstaPresentation, in about a minute. Both also work with Gemini and ChatGPT.

Route 1: connect Claude to InstaPresentation

InstaPresentation runs a remote MCP server, the open standard Claude uses for connectors. Once it's connected, Claude can create decks in your account, read them, edit them slide by slide, and publish them, all from the conversation.

  1. Add the connectorIn Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, choose Add custom connector and paste `https://instapresentation.com/mcp`.
  2. Sign in and approveClick Connect, sign in to InstaPresentation and approve access. Claude never sees your password, and you can disconnect any time in Settings > Integrations.
  3. Work out the talk with ClaudeChat the way you normally would: who the audience is, what they need to decide, the numbers that matter. Ask Claude to draft the slides in the chat so you can push back before anything is built.
  4. Ask Claude to build itSay "Put this into InstaPresentation exactly as written." Claude sends the slides with create_presentation_from_outline: your wording, laid out in a few seconds, with no AI credits used. Or skip the drafting and say "Make a 10-slide deck about..." and InstaPresentation writes it (20 credits).
  5. Refine in the chat"Turn slide 3 into a timeline." "Add a bar chart of the survey results." "Switch to a dark theme." Claude reads the deck first, then changes only what you asked.
  6. Publish and share"Make it public and give me the link." Claude asks before publishing anything, then hands you a link like instapresentation.com/you/your-deck that opens on any device.

Gemini, ChatGPT and other assistants

The same server works in any app that supports remote MCP connectors. In Gemini CLI, add it to `~/.gemini/settings.json` under `mcpServers` with `"httpUrl": "https://instapresentation.com/mcp"`, then run `/mcp auth instapresentation`. Cursor and VS Code take the same URL in their MCP settings. In ChatGPT, add it wherever your plan lists custom connectors or apps. Full setup for each is on the connect page.

Route 2: paste Claude's answer (free, any AI)

No connector? Every chat assistant can still write a deck InstaPresentation understands. It's a plain-text format we call Slide Markdown: titles, bullets and a few optional design lines.

  1. Copy the promptOpen AI to slides, type your topic and click Copy prompt.
  2. Paste it into ClaudeOr Gemini, ChatGPT or any other assistant. It replies with the whole deck in one code block.
  3. Paste the reply backDrop it into the box on the same page. You'll see how many slides it found and which layouts it picked.
  4. Pick a look and make itChoose a theme and click Make my deck. It opens in the editor, designed, a few seconds later.

What Claude can put on a slide

Plain bullets work, but a few extra lines make the deck far more visual. Claude learns these from the prompt, and you can ask for them by name ("make the rollout a timeline").

Claude writesThe slide becomes
`Layout: timeline` with "Step: what happens" bulletsA timeline
`Layout: cards` with "Heading: one sentence" bullets2-6 icon cards
`Layout: stats` with "42%: what it means" bulletsBig-number callouts
`Layout: flow`, `cycle`, `tree` or `hub`An editable diagram
`Chart: bar` (or line, pie) and a markdown tableA real chart from those numbers
A markdown tableA table slide
`Image: wind turbines at sunset`A licensed real photo, credited (never AI-generated)
`Notes: ...`Speaker notes for presenter view and your phone

Prompts that get a better deck

  • Name the audience and the decision. "For our hospital board, who must approve the budget" beats "about the new lab."
  • Give Claude your real numbers. Paste the spreadsheet rows or the report paragraph. InstaPresentation never invents data, so a chart only appears when the numbers are real.
  • Say how long you'll talk. "10 minutes" gets roughly 8-10 slides; Claude stops padding.
  • Ask for speaker notes on every slide. They show in presenter view and on the phone remote, so your slides can stay short.
  • Ask for one idea per slide. It's the single biggest difference between a deck people follow and one they read.
We've drafted the quarterly update together. Put it into InstaPresentation exactly as written, make the rollout a timeline and the survey numbers a bar chart, then give me the share link.A prompt that does the whole job in one message

After the deck exists: edit, present, share

  • Edit anywhere. The deck lives in your account, not in a chat or a file on one laptop: open it on any computer, tablet or phone and pick up where you left off.
  • Present from a link. Your hub link (instapresentation.com/you) shows every public deck. With live follow-along, the audience's phones show your current slide.
  • Run it from your phone. Scan a QR code and your phone becomes the clicker, with notes, a timer, drawing, zoom and a laser pointer. See the phone remote guide.
  • Hand it off. Export to PowerPoint, PDF or MP4 when someone needs a file.
  • Bring your team. Team plans give every seat Pro, one shared pool of AI credits and one brand kit, so every deck anyone makes, with Claude or without, looks like your company.

Why not just ask Claude for a PowerPoint file?

You can, and for a quick internal draft it's fine. The trade-off is that a generated file is a snapshot: to change it you go back to the chat, regenerate and download again, and the design is whatever the code that built the file produced. With InstaPresentation the deck stays live: it's designed by a layout engine built for slides, it's editable by hand or by asking Claude, and it already has a link, a presenter view, a phone remote and an audience view. When someone does need a .pptx, export it.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a paid plan to make a presentation with Claude?

No. Pasting Claude's answer at instapresentation.com/ai-to-slides is free on every plan and uses no AI credits. Connecting Claude directly so it can create and edit decks for you is part of Pro and above.

Does this work with Gemini or ChatGPT?

Yes. The paste method works with any AI chat. The connector works in any app that supports remote MCP servers, including Gemini CLI, ChatGPT, Cursor and VS Code.

Does Claude see my other presentations?

Only when you connect it and ask: the connector can list and read your decks so it can edit them. Access is limited to your presentations, new decks start private, and you can disconnect at any time.

Will the pictures be AI-generated?

Not through the connector or the paste method. Image lines become licensed real photos from the web with the credit shown, or the theme's built-in artwork if nothing fits. You can still make AI images yourself in the editor.

Can I keep my company's look?

Yes. Save your brand as a style (or have it pulled from your website) and tell Claude to use it by name. Team plans share the brand kit with every seat.
